Mushroom Special

Mushroom Special

Unless you’ve been on another planet for the past couple of years you’ll know that one of the most popular and a prolific method of catching Carp is the Pellet Waggler style. Lots has been written about the method, some useful, some not so. One theme that has been constant is that it’s a method that should be avoided in windy conditions.

Why? Well quite simply it has been nearly impossible to slow the float down as it drifts its way through the swim at an un-natural rate making the pellet far from appealing to the ravenous fish.

The Mushroom Special is a float that has been designed to do just that. The unique aerodynamic top allows the wind to skip over it and not ‘push’ it along the surface. As well as that the long stem takes the body below the drag affected surface layer into the more stable water. It must be said, though, that the float works well in calm conditions too.

Before we allowed the float to reach the market we gave them to some very critical anglers to test and the results were stunning. This is NOT the only Pellet Waggler you need in your box but it’s certainly one of the first you should grab!

Silicone Swivel Float Adaptors

Silicone Swivel Float Adaptors

Picture this. So we’ve set up our float and got it just right. The hook is tied and we’re ready to start fishing. For a while everything is going fine and then something changes. It could be the weather conditions, maybe you need to cast out a little further or perhaps you want to change method.

The next thing that goes through many of our minds is ‘It will take too long’ or even ‘I can’t be bothered to break down and change’. Setting up in the first instance with a float adaptor will make changing quick and simple and avoid the need to break down and start again.

Very few expert anglers will set up without using a quick change adaptor of some kind and its a lesson we can all learn from.

Anti Dive Discs

Anti Dive Discs

Read almost any article about fishing the Pellet Waggler and it will say that you should use an un-loaded float. Why? Because loaded floats dip too much and take too long to settle when cast out. Well there is some truth in that but as many of us know a loaded float is often what we’ll choose to use.

They cast easily and there is the added bonus of not having to pinch shot onto the line which will sometimes cause damage, weakening the line and making a possible ‘break point’.

By simply pushing an Anti-Dive Disc onto the weight of a loaded float you will instantly do away with these issues. The disc will almost eradicate the diving and make it settle so much quicker.

The discs come in packs of 5 pieces with varying sizes and will fit all Premier loaded Pellet Wagglers as well as many other brands.
